ALL the classes I’ve taken for the last 4 years are AP and IB, save for a ceramics class. I’ve just never done well in my math classes =/ it’s all my fault for doubling up in 9th grade.

I’ve been an officer/member of Key Club for 2 years (Historian and Webmaster), a member of Spanish club for 2 years, and a member of Mu Alpha Theta for 2 years (with a VP or secretary office this coming year).

Summer 2007/2008 volunteer for about 100 hours with the Play in the Park program. They provide extra curricular activities for children to be involved with during the summer.

Local library for 3 years. I’m also a member of their Teen Advisory Council, which organizes fun and educational activities for children and teens to enjoy. They are usually free programs.

VERY involved in my church, and am in charge of the AV/Computer department. I make sure all the electrical and computer stuff is in order for services.

I’ve played the piano for almost 10 years. I was involved in minor (mostly church sponsored) competitions, and always placed very well (state level). When my teacher developed breast cancer last summer (and subsequently stopped teaching) I continued to teach myself independently, and continue to play at my church.

I started a program at my school called Students Helping Students. We provide school supplies and a mentor program to mostly elementary schools, and our local Boys and Girls club. This is especially important to me because I am from Nigeria, and I’ve seen firsthand the struggles students in my country make to attend school, and how they often cannot reach their full potential because of something so small as school supplies (which we often take for granted in this country).

I started a small group called Better Fitness for a Better Life directly aimed towards older people (40+) which encourages better diet and fitness habits. I have someone on board who is a dietician, and I get a lot of advice from her.

ANDDDDDD I’ve worked at my dad’s counseling agency for 3 years as an office assistant.

I’m interested in studying Neuroscience/Behavior when I get to college. This interests me not only because my father is a psychologist, but also because of the many issues I dealt with during my high school career. I can definitely say that these inner demons (molestation from an uncle for 4+ years of my life before anyone found out) affected me academically, and personally. I’d really like to be able to help people like myself deal with issues like these, which are really serious.

I plan to explain all this to my counselor, and some of my teachers I have been very close with before they start writing college recommendations/etc.

The only schools I am considering so far are:
Baylor
The University of Oklahoma (I’m a resident)
Spelman
Wash. U in St. Louis (have a legacy there!) but still a huge reach

idk where to really look. I know I will never attend an Ivy League, and I’m okay with that. I’d just like school suggestions that have a good Psychology/Pre-med department, and will go from there. I am also trying HARD to raise my gpa my senior year, and bring up my ACT and SAT scores.

Thanks! And sorry again for the lengthy post. If there is anything I should take out before college applications time, please let me know!
