About Me

I would guess that I’m pretty unique. I will graduate high school in five years (this being my second junior year) and will have attended three different schools throughout. Because of an intensive surgery and accompanying (severe) depression my first junior year, I experienced plummeting grades and even worse motivation. Now at my third high school (by far the most rigorous of the three), I am doing very well and maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I will have (I hope) brilliant essays that disclose my situation in a non self-pitying manner, and I think I will have some of the most unique and thoughtful recommendations because of what I’ve been through.

Schools (in order of preference)

 1. Brown
 2. Vassar
 3. Barnard
 4. Wesleyan
 5. Bennington
 6. Bard
 7. Oberlin
 8. Kenyon
 9. Sarah Lawrence
 10. Skidmore
 11. Goucher
 12. Hampshire

And my chances are…?

Thanks to all who respond. :)

whoa cool, we have similar taste in schools.

I would say
Bennington, Goucher, Hampshire, and Sarah Lawrence: definitely in
Skidmore, Bard, Oberlin, Kenyon: low match to high match/low reach, in that rough order. you’re more or less qualified but their admit rates are comparatively low, so it’s hard to know for sure.
Vassar, Wes and Barnard: reaches, but attainable if your essays really stand out. Brown is a high reach.

good luck! [here](<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/581201-pretty-close-finalizing-my-list.html]here[/url]'s">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/581201-pretty-close-finalizing-my-list.html)'s</a> my thread.

also, did you really publish a novel?

Thanks, jarsilver. And yeah, I’m in the midst of publishing a novel right now.

Anyone else?

Just to update: I’m being home schooled now for reasons physical and mental. I will be taking 4 college classes and 2 privately tutored home school classes this semester, and am unsure about what will happen next semester. Most likely, I will continue with the same course load, unless it becomes too challenging. I will dance 8 hours per week; (probably) found a literary magazine at my local community college, since I am now considered a full-time student; volunteer anywhere from 3-6 hours, depending on other commitments; if I have any time left over (which I doubt), I will work at my local Barnes & Noble; and, this year, I am trying for the Davidson Fellow for Literature, and again trying for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards as well as the Kenyon Review Award, along with some various local poetry contests.

How will this affect me? Does it lower my chances at all?

Thanks in advance.
