Chances for anything Ivy?

Hi. I’m a pretty solid student. I’m not too good at standardized testing. Please chance me for anything Ivy. Let me make this clear: I DO NOT live my high school life for the sole purpose of going to college. I do what I love, not what I think some university will love.

Anticipated Major: Something having to do with education

Race: White
Public high school (ranked 2nd in state)

EC’s (all 4 years unless stated otherwise):
-National Honor Society (11,12)
-Recycling Club
-Kenpo karate (9, 10) -> This was biggest EC for me. At least 12 hours / week
-Radio club
-School newspaper editor (11, 12)
-Acting, Spring play (10)
-Volleyball through community program (10, 11, 12)
-Club volleyball (10)
-Varsity volleyball (11, 12)
-Ultimate frisbee (12)
-Math Team (12)
-Science team (12)
-Peer leadership
-MVP (mentors in violence prevention) program (11, 12)
-Student ambassador (11, 12) -> helps new students acclimate
-400+ hours of community service (including mission trip to Kentucky)
Yes I know most of my ECs are focused in junior / senior year. Please note that for freshman and sophomore year I was doing Kenpo karate 4-5 days a week for 3-4 hours at a time (i.e. at least 12 hours/week, usually more)

Leadership:
-Peer mentoring (I’ve taught classes before)
-Peer tutoring
-Teaching Kenpo karate to small children (100+ hours from frosh year alone)
-MVP Program
-Ambassador Program
-Peer leadership

Random S***:
-AP Enviro award
-St Lawrence University Book Award
-Principal’s Recognition Award
-Presidential Community Service Award (each year)
-Varsity letter  (completely blow at sports)
-At least honor roll every term (4 terms high honors, never ever gotten a C+ or below)
-National Spanish Honors Society (10, 11, 12)
-Failed my road test twice
-My daddy went to UPenn. They love him

Recs
-One will be amazing (“I’ll get you into anywhere you want to go” my teacher said… “Even Harvard!”)
-One will be very solid
-My two in house recs (smaller recommendations that counselor quotes from in her rec) are very very very good

Summer
-Screw you all, I relax during my summer
-Working this summer for 4 weeks at a camp, potential lab work later in the summer

Thank you for this chance thread - I lol’d at so many parts.

Your lackadaisical attitude will be your downfall, young man!!! :b

EDIT: Shockingly, Cornell is your best bet of the Ivy League

wow kid. you seem like a dick. You’re never getting anywhere in life. I bet you have a depression in your chest.

hahahaha…I thoroughly enjoyed this thread. I appreciate the honesty. Anyyywayss, your stats are good, not over-the-top, but good. You have the potential to get into a lower-level ivy or ivy-equivalent. Keep up the good work and things will fall into place, with some hard work, of course.

I laughed at this for some reason. :p

Do teacher’s actually say that?

@Calico: Im glad you lyk
@Cela…whatever the eff your name is: Yup, I was thinking same thing
@Lightsource: And hell yeah, recycling club, it’s the ****. I’m the student leader of it, too. @CornellYeah I was thinking low-level ivy
@Vibhorsir: Love you too
@Redroses: That teacher loves me to death, so yes, teachers do say that

I visited Amherst, BC, Tufts… want to apply to Brown + Cornell + UPenn (maybe ED?). What do you guys think of those? Reasonable? Remember I have legacy for UPenn! :D

Then you must ED at Penn to get the benefit. Unless the teacher has a building with his name on it at Harvard, that’s a really awful statement, some kids will believe it.

i think this is pretty much what the Ivys DON’T try to take now.

Modesty and focus is better than a laundry list of ECs and a cocky attitude. But best of luck regardless.

Hmm, I still think I show some focus. Ive been doing volleyball since the program was introduced to the school, and things like recycle club and radio club I’ve been doing all 4 year. Plus I keep up with activities only open to juniors and seniors (mentoring, tutoring), have strong focus around math (5 years of high school math -> doubled up on math my soph year+ 800s on math SAT I + II) And the cocky attitude is a joke, way to have a sense of humor.

I know that I have some random stuff in there- should I remove some of it (i.e. acting) to look more focused around community service, teaching, + volleyball?

what are my chances?

Huh, yeah I’m not familiar with commonapp format. But most awards and **** go on the transcript anyways. Thx bro

lol you’re funny.
but you clearly do not only relax during the summer if you’re doing **** this summer.
=p
as for chances
my crystal ball predicts:
in at upenn cos you’re a legacy
the rest of the lower ivies you listed
low-reaches
:D

Haha bro I meant in my previous summers. My job is gonna be pretty chill, and even if its not, it’s only till July 23. Alright thanks for feedback, that seems to be general consensus.

Dude, you need to do more **** this summer. This summer create a business or something. Find an Indian kid with subpar grades and just do work
