1900 SAT at least (I got a 1750 for the january test, but I’m sure I’ll do better in May)

OMG IT’S YOU!!! ^_____^ you haven’t PMed me in so long.
Anyways… I think if you raise your SAT you have a decent shot at all, though Tulane/Smith might be a bit of a stretch. Also you will need pretty good AP scores. And have you taken SAT IIs? You should.

Guys, this may be a stupid question, but why is Tulane such a reach? Maybe I’m just hopeful, but my SAT (if raised to my projected score) and GPA are both 5th percentile- is it my lack of ECs?

Well, the 1900 is projected. And technically, 1940 is the average.

The 50th percentile at Tulane for GPA is a 3.7, so you have misinformation there. 3.45 is the 25th percentile, and when you add that to slightly below average SAT scores and very modest EC’s, you’re left with Tulane being a low reach in my eyes. If you disagree, that’s fine. This is just my two cents.

Sorry, I was a bit off- but Tulane’s Common Data Set says the average incoming freshman in 2012 had a 3.55 GPA. You hit the 25th SAT percentile at 1880 (and I’m pretty sure I’m score in the 1900s the next time- the nerves got to me in January). I understand the EC problem…I’ll have to do something about that.

Well, I’m looking at the past 5 years data, rather than just the last year. I highly recommend you try to get a job (even if it’s just babysitting or something), as work experience is very important. With that said, if you can score a 1950 or above, I’d say you have a decent shot of getting in.

There are 10 replies to this thread that aren’t mine, and none of them did a regular chancing- “UCLA- high match, tufts- high matches, UNCH- match”- is it really too much to ask?

Fine you want a someone to chance you honestly? With a 1750, 3.3 GPA and pretty much no ECs:
St. Olaf - Reach
Tulane - Reach
Smith College - Reach
Mount Holyoke - Reach
Carleton - Reach
Loyola University Chicago - Reach
