im a senior and i applied to these schools RD, and i am very nervous for the results and would like some opinions!

My UW GPA is mainly due to low freshman year, have gotten all As otherwise EXCEPT for a B- in AP Calculus first semester, I hope the admissions officers will be understanding as I got a A next semester and a 5 on the exam, as well as 800 on SAT 2 math.

What will you want to major in? Your ACT and SAT II scores are superb, and your GPA is also very decent. EC-wise, is chess the only EC activity you participate in? Many top colleges like to see a variety of different ECs. Northeastern you have a very high chance of getting into. Duke and Brown are both low reaches, and I think you have a very good chance! Make sure to work on your essays, and to show how you are unique because remember, there will be thousands of applicants just like you. Best of luck!
northeastern & duke you should pretty confident in, brown is more of a stretch, but i think you’re a really competitive candidate for all three
I understand that you are nervous, and that is normal; but why would the random opinions of a bunch of strangers that have no impact on your actual decisions do anything to reassure you?
Northeastern you should be confident about that’s a great fit. I disagree with above poster who said you should feel confident about duke. Not that you won’t get in because you certainly are qualified but more because it’s so competitive same with brown. That being said I could see you getting into one. Best of luck to you!

You’re in with honors and merit at Northeastern for sure. You have better stats than I did, and I got merit. Brown and Duke are both crapshoots, but you seem to have a good thing going with the chess. Good luck.
You are a wonderful fit for all of them but, as stated above, Duke and Brown are crapshoots. I appled ED to Duke for the edge… There was no edge. Mostly 3.9 uw and above got in along with the athletes. Duke was and still is my number one school and that rejection was the most painful thing to occur… But good luck, and I hope it all goes well for you.
Hi I’m a Duke alum. The chess championships are impressive. You certainly have the scores and grades. However as others point out you need to have a really top class rank to have a serious shot. You didn’t specify your rank.
Unhooked Asians have it the toughest, but you have a decent shot. Good luck.
Finally, I assume you know there is no word in the dictionary called “guyses”. If you do end up going to Duke please don’t ever write that in any paper.
