your stats look really good…wow, jealous. and your ECs look good too, ehm, not sure what else to say.

a friend of mine got admitted ED to harvard last year and her main EC was her debating activities, which were at about the same level of yours. if that gives you encouragement :)

What is your GPA and approximate class rank? The rest of your profile makes you a competitive applicant…and most of the competitive applicants don’t get in. Definitely apply as you are in the range of people they accept if your GPA is strong.

nice job ja2000. I think you have a great chance.

General question though, AdmissionsAddict maybe you know, how much does really good AP scores weigh in your favor (like almost all 5’s, maybe 1 4)? I’ve heard a lot about how low AP scores might not hurt you much, but will high AP scores help much more?

I don’t think AP scores make that much of a difference, but I have never discussed that with a Yale admissions officer. You don’t have to submit them, so if you have bad ones, they’ll never know.

Hah I don’t know why I forgot to post my GPA, I have a 97 unweighted, which I guess would equate to about a 3.9? My school doesn’t rank , but my GPA is similar to the few people Yale has accepted from my school over the past 3 years…I think my weakness would be mediocre extracurriculars/awards

The only problem I would pose is lack of distinctive national awards (that is my problem at least)
otherwise, it seems like your chances are very high. ACT score is great, and you are obviously good at standardized testing.

you are a competitive applicant!Good luck!

You have a good chance if you really let your essays and recommendations sing. They have to say something unique about your character & personality, not just that you are an outstanding student with a lot of energy.

AdmissionsAddict, I know what you are saying about BAD scores, that probably wont matter much. But what I am asking is how much will GOOD scores help you? Is it comparable to good SAT scores?

Celita–Good AP scores are in no way comparable to good SATs and ACTs. Again, I haven’t discussed it with an admissions officer so I’m just going with my gut, but I don’t think good APs make a tremendous difference.
