Chances for early decision

I obviously know if your grades and scores aren’t in the range, then you have no shot. But I have heard if you are borderline (and anyone for that matter), you have a better chance of getting into Ivy League schools.

Do you statistically have a higher chance of getting into Ivy League schools (the ones I am considering are Princeton, UPenn, and Dartmouth) if you apply early decision?

*And yes, I know most times you can only go for early decision at one school.

Yes, ED does help in many cases. Refer to this link for specifics on schools: [Colleges Where Applying Early Decision Helps - US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/right-school/timeline/articles/2009/09/30/colleges-where-applying-early-decision-helps)

Also, remember that EA (non-binding) might not be the same case statistically speaking.

Princeton won’t give much of a bump (it’s non-binding because it’s EA) but yes, Penn and Dartmouth do profess an ED advantage and a pretty notable one too.
