Would Haverford be a match or a reach for me?

Also, any colleges similar to Haverford that would be a good fit?

Haverford is very near Philadelphia which is easy to get to. Although the campus is an arboretum, it is still surburban so I don’t know what to say about being closer to nature. With that one exception, Haverford appears to be a very good fit for you. I am sure there are others who read this forum that can provide much better guidance.

What I was talking about was the beautiful campus which I know is suburban, in comparison to a city campus. I am definitely not looking to attend college in a rural area…

With regards to ACT scores, AP classes, etc. you are certainly within range for Haverford, but with a school as selective as Haverford they have an abundance of applicants with the right statistics and have to regretfully reject many of them. It is in the other intangibles that they are looking to decide if you are a match. Your desire for a “strong well-rounded liberal arts program, sense of trust and community among students due to the honor code, small class sizes and relationship to professors, near a major city but closer to nature, study abroad oppurtunities, etc.” may be as important to them deciding you are a match as are the GPA, ACT scores, etc. Find a way to express that desire for the unique fit that is Haverford in your essay and interviews and they are more likely to decide they want you than even higher ACT scores and GPA.

You look like a good candidate for Haverford. They are very selective so you will need to stand out with your essays.
You may want to take a look at Vassar (gorgeous campus about an 1 hour train ride into NYC) and/or Wellesley (in the Boston suburbs -all women).
Best of luck!

You might also want to take a look at Davidson (20 minutes from Charlotte, honor code, great relationship between the town and students, small classes, lots of professor/student interactions and an excellent study abroad program). It is also a tree lined, beautiful aboretum like campus. They also have a satellite campus on or near a lake.
