If I explain my low gpa, apply early, good essay/ recomendations, etc

Coursework and ACT seem good. I can’t imagine that they would not take into account the fact that your mother died when looking at GPA. If you’re in state I’d say match. Out of State I’d say slight reach/match.

My condolences about your mom. I had a sibling die a few months ago. It’s rough. I’m also sure they’ll take her passing into account. I wouldn’t worry about it, your ACT partly makes up for your GPA anyhow.

Explain your special circumstances under extra/additional information. I think you have a great chance, match.

I’m so sorry about your mom :frowning: You definately have a great shot though… good luck!

with what you stack up against my school, ya you’re in… i mean i’ve seen people with much lower ACT and gpas from my school get in… i think we sent like 20 people to umich this year and last… actually i know for sure, i made a list and everything and this was out of like 250 kids

Mother’s death pretty much negates Sophomore year. Make sure you communicate it clearly. Your Junior year and ACT prove that Sophomore year was beyond your control. I like your chances.
