I’m a Jewish girl applying to a bunch of engineering schools (MIT - top choice, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Cooper Union, Johns Hopkins, McGill, Penn).

I have a GPA of 3.7 (weighted 4.6), and ACT composite of 34, 730 Math II 690 chem.

I also attend a school with a dual cirriculum, take almost all honors courses and 2 APs.

I play varsity softball since 8th grade, do Mock trial, math team, layout editing, soup kitchen, nad have had summer internships with the WhizKids foundation, Fidelity Investments and Beth Israel.

Hmmm… your stats look good, but ECs are a little lacking. Have you won any special awards in softball? That would probably help you out a lot. SATII chem is low as well, and I suspect they will examine that since you’re applying for an engineering school. However, these schools are not too far out of the ball park if you write great essays showing off your personality and spiff up your extracurriculars.

Awards… so I’m a starter, and I’ve gotten yearly awards including an invitation to a tournament.
I know that my Ec’s are lacking… I’m in school until 5:30, which presents a problem in that front
What do you think about MIT in particular?
I hope the essay I wrote was good enough then, thanks for all your help!

Hmm. I think score math & chem scores are a bit low for MIT and Carnegie Mellon, esp. for their engineering schools. What was your SATI math (if taken)? other than that, everythings good!
are you a senior yet? if you dont have time for extracirriculars, maybe you should look for some kind of high school engineering program held in the summer. many colleges host these programs.
