Chances for Music: Do GPA and SAT scores matter?

I have asked the same question in the [UMich forum](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=399484).

Several teachers have recommended music programs in schools with high standards, including Northwestern. As stated in the other thread, "I have a ridiculously low GPA of about 3.0 due to various obstacles and difficulties at home. My SAT score, being less than 2000, does not meet the school’s standards either.

Will it be impossible, even with a good audition/essay/rec?"

As far as I know, those factors are only like 15% or so of the evaluation…

My understanding is that GPA/Stats do matter, along with talent/audition.Does your school have anyone in the past who was accepted into the music program at NU?-that could either confirm-or negate my understanding.G’luck!
