Chances for Non-Ivies

Alright, here’s my deal.

I graduated from HS a year early (skipped 8th grade). I applied to Dickinson, Franklin and Marshall, and Bowdoin last year and was waitlisted for Dickinson and F&M, and rejected ED II from Bowdoin (applied without SAT scores to all three of them).

So now I am taking a year off, and I want to apply to the following this fall:
Allegheny College
Bucknell University
Dickinson College
Elon University
Franklin and Marshall College
Green Mountain College
Skidmore College
Saint Michael’s College

Maybe I will apply to Bowdoin again, but most likely not, since I’ve already been rejected once.

Stats:
4.0 GPA unweighted
toughest school courseload (school doesn’t offer APs, but I took all honors)
SAT I:
CR: 700
W: 650 (10 essay… I ran out of room on the pages, had to erase and rewrite the last half smaller, and ran out of time to finish)
M: 480 (killer, I know. I test poorly, in the classroom my hw grades made up for most of it, and I’ve not done THAT badly on a test in a long time… my Algebra I was apparently rusty.)
I never took the PSAT, and for a complicated reason only to the SAT this one time (this year), and didn’t do a prep course, so I could potentially bring up my score if I get a chance to take it again). I might take the ACT though.

EC:
I have done a lot of volunteering at a local equine rescue, working with abused horses and orphaned foals.

I also volunteered at the local handicapped riding school until it closed down.

This fall I am going to China for 10 weeks on my own. I will spend 2 weeks doing a language course in Beijing, 4 weeks volunteering at the Panda Sanctuary in Chengdu, and 4 weeks in Beijing doing a journalism internship.

I am both Nationally and Internationally ranked for showjumping (horses), and I am on the Zone 3 team for the National Young Rider’s Championships in August (teams from Mexico, Canada, and the US compete, which is the “preliminary” for international/european competition next summer).

I have very good recommendation letters.

I am a white female from Virginia, with dual US and English/Caymanian citizenship.

Chances?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, and school doesn’t rank, but I would most likely be in the top 5-10%.

hmmm not sure exaclty for LACs, but you do look weak, that math score is pitiful to say the least. also one has to question your school’s strength when it doesn’t offer APss or any other sort of guideline. i would set my standards low if i was you.

Your critical reading score is great and your writing score is fine too. That tells the school that you are bright and can read and write well. Try to get your math SAT over 500 - you may want to focus your SAT study time on just math, as that is the only score holding you back.
I think is is highly likely you will be admitted to St. Michaels, a great school. Green Mtn College is a safety for you.
Have you thought about St. Lawrence in Canton, NY? Isolated area but terrific school with great facilities and they don’t require SATs. Keene State College in NH and Siena College in Loudonville, NY are also low matches - maybe safeties.

Definitely take the math again after studying, preferably with a tutor who specializes in the SATs. The score on the math portion of the SAT is much easier then the critical reading portion, so a significant improvement is very possible.
