<p>hey everyone! i keep going back and forth about my realistic chances at the reach schools i applied to and thought an opinion other than my gc and parents would be really helpful!</p>
<p>okay, so white female at a small (senior class size under 200) public suburban new york high. we are ranked very high nationally, but my entire county is so competitive that in the past few years our school hasn’t been doing so well since we’re one of the better-off regions in already competitive NY with great education in the entire county.</p>
<p>ACT 34, gpa 101% weighted, unweighted appx. 97-98. 2nd in class with one of the most challenging course loads offered. AP: two 5’s (one in english language, which according to my gc, is a good one to have a five in?, and one from tenth grade) and two 4’s</p>
<p>award wise: national merit commended, ap scholar with honor, published essayist and prizes for new york state essay competitions, awards for academic achievement in english, essays accepted to media contests, new york scholarship winner, various book awards and school-wide awards.</p>
<p>ec wise i’m editor in chief of our newspaper which sweeps gold medals for may major national competitions, president and founder of various book groups and literacy movements including organizer of a teen movement to (successfully) save the library, spanish and math tutor, mentor, appointed student government, various clubs, 3 years varsity spring track.</p>
<p>and i intern at major us corporation 10 hours per week after school and 24 hours over the summer.</p>
<p>both recs were superb. essays on the whole were strong, though i feel some could be better.</p>
<p>i feel like though my record makes me at least competitive for ivies and top LAC’s, my region, race, and lack of any legacy is really hurting me, but perhaps i am taking this into consideration too harshly?</p>
<p>i have been deferred ED from upenn wharton. (our class this year has also been doing very poorly ivy wise, we’re all deferrees). </p>
<p>the reaches you can evaluate me on are: princeton, upenn wharton, amherst, brown, univ. of virginia, georgetown. marketing at penn, economics at the rest. i applied to a lot but these are the ones i feel like i have the best (though still slight) chance at based on the apps. </p>
