Chances for NYU?

I would appreciate it if someone told me where I stood.

I understand that I may not be the best candidate. This is because I have been to three different high schools. As a result of that, it has been difficult to maintain some sort of consistency or to really stand out.

Also I am aware that my SAT scores are not the best as of well. I plan to raise them significantly (either with the SAT or ACT).

I am also a black male and gay (affirmative action, yes?)

I am considering applying RD because I would like my first semester grades to go in so that my GPA will gain some sort of a boost.

You left out one very important piece of information, what school within NYU are you applying to? Stern is a no chance, I’m sorry but with those SAT scores it just isn’t happening. However I do think any of the other schools are manageable reaches. I’m sure being black helps, although I don’t know what being gay would do (if you could spin it into a great essay I’m sure it would mean something but on its’ own I’m not sure). The SAT is the biggest thing because you can get it up, the EC’s are good and the GPA is decent. I really think ED could make or break your app, I’m not expert, but just based off of common sense it seems like they would be more inclined to take someone who was less academically qualified but has other great qualities ED because they could use RD to ensure their incoming class is very strong academically, again this is purely speculatory, and I would not apply any school ED if I wasn’t sure about it, much less NYU which takes a very specific type of person to like. Anyway that’s just my two cents on the matter.

I second that you have crappy SAT scores
