I have already had the pleasure of being accepted into UT, but one of my friends who recently applied really wants to go to UT, but his resume is less than stellar…

White Male from Texas
23 ACT

about 20 hours of college credit via community college courses

ECs: lots of computer science stuff, but I’m not in the mood to list it all.

Hook possibly??- His uncle is the head astronomer at UT, and he got some dazzling recommendation from him.

Any chances for my friend to get into UT? even if it’s the summer course?

If the fact his dad is the head astronomer pulls any weight, then he might be a longshot. Otherwise no, and also no to summer unless his dad helps.

I don’t know man, I think his dad considering his position could pull some serious weight. That being said, looking purely at his stats, there is no way he’ll get in with that ACT.

I honestly have no idea what his class rank is, I’m guessing right around 50%, but that’d be just a shot in the dark. From what I know he’s gotten A’s on all of his community college stuff though.

If he really wants to go to UT and already has 20 hours of As from community college, then maybe he could take ten more hours of college courses and just apply as a transfer. His odds look better that way. It is so hard for non top ten students to get in as freshman.
