Hi! I’m a 17 year old student from England, and am currently taking Spanish, French and Psychology A Levels. I’m predicted an A*, and 2 As. I am taking the May SAT and should get like a 1300, because I didn’t leave enough time to work. However, I’m planning on taking the SAT at least twice more, and could probably get a 1450/1500. For extracurriculars, I volunteer at a daycare, I write a Psychology research blog, I’m currently competing in Irish dance competitions on an international level, and recently went to the world championships. I also tutor students French, and I recently travelled to Morocco to volunteer at a center for disabled young people, and was responsible for them for a week. I also participated in the envision award, which is a social project in my local area, and will recieve a ‘graduation’ from that from my local university.
What are my chances? How can I improve my chances, and is there anything I’m doing wrong?
I will also need financial aid, to cover almost everything.
You appear to be a viable candidate if you can achieve the kind of test scores in the 1450-1500 range and above. Keep in mind that it is not easy to be admitted as an international, even if your scores and EC’s are excellent. Many internationals are recruited athletes, have won high level competitions (think at least national, if not international) in their areas of expertise, or have significant grasp of a particular field of study that far exceeds the norm. (For reference, my son was an international student, Princeton BSE class of '16) If you can accept the very low probability of admission, it’s still worth applying to see what happens.
