Please tell me my chances. Thanks

i too want to major in biology. i got a 760math and a 620 verbal on the sat. i took ap exams and almost aced them all. my school scores are one of the best and i fdon't think i'm getting in with an ED application. God help me.

I slightly understood your post. SAT and GPA isn't everything. You have essay, EC, Rec, Honors, etc. But the way I understiood your post, it seemed negative.

Sal I think your SAT I has to improve (it isn't everything but a good score would make you a solid applicant). Everything else looks fine.

Arseus- I don't see why your think you won't get in. According to your SATs you are in the middle range. APs do help.

Well ive already taken it 4 times.

hey sal2005,

i didn't mean my comments to be negative. i just am not in the right mood these days since my foul-up on the SAT. i think ur right SAT isn't everything. just keep ur essays and reccomend.s in topshape and if u can manage, go for an 800 on the SAT2 biology and perhaps a 700+ on the writing and keep ur fingers crossed. that's what i'm doing, athough i have very little hopes. best of luck.

Its all good man, Dont worry about it. What other colleges are you applying to? well it'll be hard to get 800 on Bio im shooting for 650 plus

you're shooting for a 650+? I would shoot for a 750+ on the bio. I'm also in IB, in HL bio, and frankly, that's not going to cut it on the SAT2. It covers more of an honors/AP than IB curriculum. I took it without studying and didn't receive the score I wanted, so just warning you. I did decent, but not good enough that you'd want to send it to JHU (to be honest, you wouldn't want to send a 650 bio! it'll only hurt you, especially if you're wanting to major in bio!). I'm personally submitting an ACT to JHU because it covers both SAT1 and 3 2's. You might want to consider that since you said you can't retake SAT1 anymore either.

My ACT score isnt that great

then retake it. There's one more testing date before the app is due.

it is the person they are looking for...what makes you want to go to jhu...what is unique about them that and you can get in...

what exact qualities are you referring to and how exactly do you prove them.

i think that from the early part of your junior year you needed to have established personal relationships with admissions officer in your area, alumni, professors, etc...then in you essays and personal statement express why you want to go there and what you will add to the campus...

my point was that at any highly competitive school if they cannot place a face with a name...if they did not feel your desire to have a relationship with the people there, you are less likely to get in...

this assumes that most everyone who applies is capable of doing the work and the admissions staff has to find a way to choose...

so it is RELATIONSHIP my view
