Chances for Regular Decision?

I am interested in majoring in English (Pre-Law).

GPA: 3.75 (unweighted)
ACT: 29
Top 15% of the class.

I took rigorous coursework including multiple AP classes. I have yet to get below a 4 on an AP Exam.

Over 60 service hours.

Multiple extra-curriculars: Theater, Ecology Club (Vice President), Choir, Ministry, German Club, Literary Magazine, Book Club, Academic Decathlon, etc…

I really want to be a part of the Marching Band at NU, but not playing an instrument. I want to be a part of the Flag Corp. I have experience as a male color guard member, and was the first to do it at my school (guy that is). I think it is interesting that the university has never had a guy do it, and I am pretty good.

I am known for doing spontaneous things, such as writing a book of poetry in two days and having it published soon after (this is true).

On top of the 60 hours of service, which are mostly with youth sports and food banks, I also do a lot with the environment. Under my leadership (VP of Ecology is in charge of recycling), my school has recycled over 50 tons this year (and are still going). We have also gotten my school a solar panel and wind turbine.

I go to a small-medium sized Catholic school on a scholarship.

Neither of my parents went to college. I am the first in my family to go to college.

What are my chances?
I think I can kill an interview if I did one. I believe my common app. essay and supplements were well written. Should I take the ACT again to raise it a couple of points? Is it to late to raise my ACT score?

In my opinion, even with the hook of first in family to go to college - your stats are a bit weak for Northwestern and would rate you a Reach. I am not sure of Northwesterns deadlines but if there is a an opportunity to take your ACT’s again in January and have the results directly sent to Northwestern I would definitly consider it worth your effort. Good Luck!

Due to uniform concerns, I’ve heard NU doesn’t let guys join guard… but I’m not sure if that is negotiable. Also, a bunch of corps (Cavaliers, Phantom) are near by if you can’t join the NU guard but still want to be involved with the marching arts.
