You have pretty unique EC’s. I’d say match at JHU and Northwestern, maybe a reach at Stanford (but your unique EC’s definitely give you an advantage for them, HYPS is basically a reach for everyone). I’m not so sure about Duke, and Cornell is a bit of a reach

First of all, I want to say that your GPA is NOT as bad as you think. Also, the fact that you’re biracial will definitely help you in the application process as well as you being a male.

Duke ED-match
Northwestern-not really sure…match?
Brown-reach
Cornell-IN. I know a white female who got in with lower stats and no, she wasn’t recruited or a legacy.
Hopkins-low reach; I visited Hopkins and they really like minority students there.
Stanford-reach

I think you have a decent shot at Stanford and Brown, though. Maybe not a GREAT chance, but a decent one. But even so, you applied ED to Duke and I think you’ll get in there.

woah your ECs are realllllllllly interesting.

Duke ED: pretty good chance
Northwestern: match
Brown: ehhh idk. arent they hard to predict? i would say low reach
Cornell: match
Hopkins: match
Stanford: reachhhh, as for anyone.

the fact that you are biracial and the volunteering efforts you have made for that other country are very strong additions to your app. I think you have a really good chance of getting into Duke ED.

Northwestern - match
Brown - low-reach
Cornell - low-reach to match
Hopkins - low-reach to match
Stanford - mid- to high- reach

Duke ED: sort of reach
Northwestern:match
Brown: reach
Cornell: match, especially if you’ve worked there
Hopkins: match
Stanford:reach

I feel like the volunteering thing is cliched. It really depends on how convincing your essays are. Even if some people say its “good” doesn’t mean it is in the eyes of ppl who read a gazillion bajillion about similar topics.

I feel your stats are good enough to make any of the schools if you had strong everything else (ie recommendations/ECs). But since your teacher recommendations aren’t outstanding, I’m not sure you have too much of a chance in your reaches. But hope i’m wrong =)

Your ACT is fantastic (I’d suggest submitting that, it’s a good 100 points better than ur SAT), W GPA is great, UW GPA IS a little of a problem (but not too substantial as these schools will most likely understand w/ a a rigorous transcript such as yours), EC’s are very interesting, good recs/essays help your app a lot, and it’s great that you had an interview. Here are my chances:

Duke ED: Reasonable Reach (40-45%)
Northwestern: Match
Brown: BIG Reach (consider switching for Vanderbilt, UChicago, or Wash U in St. Louis)
Cornell: Match
Hopkins: Low Reach
Stanford: BIG Reach (ditto)

Hope this helps!! Plz Chance Back!! (on the 2.0 thread)
