I hope you guys can help! I’ve been really worrying what I could get into since my GPA is mediocre. Thanks!
For CS - probably not. Your GPA is well below the norm there. Apply anyhow and see what happens. Take a look at SDSU, UCR and UCSC (maybe UCSB) as options.
Good luck.
CS major admits hovered around 10% this year. You need to have above a 4.0 CSU GPA for a decent chance at an admittance. My younger son applied last year for CS with a CSU GPA of 3.73, SLO CSU GPA 3.81, ACT of 31 for ED. He was deferred and finally rejected.
I will give a list of schools he applied to and his results.
Applied: UCI/UCSB/UCD/UCR/SJSU/CSUF/CSULB/SLO/CPP/SDSU
Accepted: SJSU/UCR/SDSU/CSUF/CSULB/CPP
Denied: UCI/UCSB/UCD/SLO
Attending: SDSU
CS is one of the more competitive majors for UC’s and CSU’s so you need to be at or above the average Stats for a good chance at an acceptance. For the UC’s, essays and EC’s will also play a part in your application, so spend time on these. There is no harm in applying just have several options. Good Luck with your applications.
