I am planning to apply to NYU Stern for fall 2016, and I would like to major in International Business or Marketing. I’m applying to several other schools with strong undergrad business programs, but I would really love to be in New York. I’ve been told my stats are way too low for Stern, and I am worried I am just wasting time and money by applying.
UW GPA: 3.5
WGPA: 4.2
ACT: 29 (didn’t prepare, retaking it in September)
SAT: 1950, but not sending SAT
Rank: 209 of 809 (~25.6 %)
Hooks: URM, First Generation
EC’s:
Interned for the Chief Financial Officer of an insurance firm for 2 summers
President of a school club
VP of French Club
Science National Honor Society
Staff writer for school newspaper
Assistant shooter for a special event photography business 2013-present
Volunteer at a no-kill animal shelter
Writing is definitely my strength, so I expect to have very good essays
*I could, instead of applying to NYU Stern, apply to Manhattan College. I would be at the top of their applicant pool, and still in New York. However, I have no clue how well known MC is. I’m in Dallas and no one I know has ever even heard of it, but it could be just a regional thing. Is Manhattan College well known/respected enough that I would have good job opportunities in IB/Marketing in the NYC area after graduation, or should I just chance it with NYU?
Thank you!
