I attend Long Island Lutheran middle and high School (LUHI). Its a private Lutheran school and tuition is around $11,000 a year.
GPA: 3.5 unweighted (91)
SAT: Math and Critical reading- 1010 (I am not good for sitting still and taking long tests)
Barely any extracurriculars.

Does going to a private school help me?

How are my chances for it?

I know I have asked this before but I was just rejected by Stony Brook and was just wondering my chances. I plan to major in Philosophy too.

As far as i’m concerned, going to a private school does not help you in anyway.
Honestly, things don’t look so bright with your lack of ECs combined with your low GPA and SAT.

chance me?

Any other opinions?

Hi lemons,
You’ll never know until you try. NP does not actually put that much weight in ECs (according to a talk we heard from the dean) b/c so many kids have to work and therefore don’t have time for ECs.
Furthermore, the rep from Oneonta who came to my d’s private HS said that actually yes, they do look at the rep of a given HS. Still it would be good to bring up your scores…
Lastly, don’t set your heart on only one school! Look at Oneonta, Plattsburgh, etc. Try to identify what you like about New Paltz and look for other like it.
Hoping this helps.
It would be in your favor to re-take the SATs or try the ACT.
