Chances for Swarthmore, Georgetown, Tufts + more

I go to a competitive public high school in a suburb of Chicago. I was in the top 5% of a class of 690, but they just did away with rank this year. My GPA is 3.8 UW, 4.58 weighted. My ACT is a 36 (36 E/36 R/36 M/36 S/12 E) and my SAT is a 2290 (800 CR/690 M/800 W/11 E). My ECs are okay - I’m in quite a few clubs, and I’m the president of one (Martial Arts Club) and the Vice-Kanzlerin of another (German club).

I’m hoping to double major in German and economics, but German is my primary academic interest/passion in general, and I did win one pretty major award in German that will probably help me (AATG/PAD study trip - all expenses-paid three week trip to Germany).

I got NMSF, so that will hopefully help for financial aid.

I’m definitely applying to these schools:
Swarthmore
Georgetown
Tufts
Rice
University of Chicago
Tulane
Fordham
University of Illinois (Champaign)
McGill

These were some others I was considering:
Middlebury
Wellesley
Cornell
Grinnell
UC Berkeley
UMich
Stony Brook
Northwestern
Colorado College

German universities (I don’t expect anyone to be able to give me chances for these xD):
Freie Universit

You’ll get into a good number - if not most - of your schools. If you think you can write a good essay - a great essay -you might consider raising your sites to some others.

Your post is a bit confusing to me - you seem to imply that getting into “most” of these schools would be something unlikely or unexpected, and yet I should raise my sights higher than University of Chicago?

Don’t worry - you have all the scores you need to get into the schools you listed. Make sure you write a great essay.

Please chance back!

I know my scores are great - I’m more worried about my unweighted GPA and the fact that I haven’t ended world hunger or built a new village in the Dominican Republic or something. >.<

I think you misunderstood stemit. They were saying (and I agree) that you will get into most of those schools. “You’ll get into a good number - if not most - of your schools”, meaning “You’ll get into a good number - and probably most - of your schools”. Cannot say much about the German universities, but the ones here (and Canada) are definitely within your reach. Some you just never know, like Middlebury, Wellesley, and Northwestern/Chicago (although you wouldn’t want to stay in the Chicago area! Time for a change!). But you certainly are on par with students that get in those places, it is just a numbers game. And there is sometimes a surprise or two with schools you “should” get in but do not for some reason. Having said that, you should get into nearly all those schools.
