Other
I wrote my common app essay about dealing with the emotional challenges of my grandmother’s amputation, which occurred last year. It made my English teacher cry, so I’m going to go with “generally well written” to describe it :p

My guidance counselor was out on maternity leave for college applications, but I was one of two students she still wrote a recommendation letter for, so I’m assuming it was probably above-average

School-Specific Things
Vassar: Wrote a quirky essay about wanting to get married there
Swarthmore: First choice, clearly written about in essay. GC also mentioned in letter
Princeton: Applied EA and was deferred
Cornell: Conveyed strong interest in essay

I’ll chance back anyone who replies. Thanks in advance!

You are very competitive. U got the 2200+ SAT, top 1% rank, solid GPA, and good SAT 2s. You focus on a couple of ECs which I think is good since it shows your focuses and also got leadership in them. Awards are fine and essays seem thoughtful. You probably will get Vassar, Cornell and Swarthmore are a match (50%+) and Princeton a reach (30+) just because it is a top ivy. Good luck on admission process. Chance back?

Thank you! Anyone else? I will definitely chance you back :)

oh my god… how are your grades that high??

What is your rank/class size?

Wait. How do you get 100’s in classes? You get 100 on every test? Omg. I’ve never seen that before.

Solid chances. None of your ECs stand out that much but they are really good and pretty focused. Grades and SAT are good. I’m sure you’ll get into a few of these. But those grades… ***.

Also what did you do with your summers?

My rank is 3rd out of 400 (or 383 or something. They stopped ranking anyone that won’t graduate on time, but idk if that’s only an internal thing, or if it went on the midyear report too)

As for grades… Some of my teachers have strange systems. I did get a 100 on every tests in Stats and Econ though. PM if you want the others explained.

Also, I forgot to mention - I work 17 hours per week (since the beginning of junior year) at my local library. Idk if that really adds/changes anything, but I figure it’s worth mentioning.

I agree that the GPA, rank and Ecs are more than stellar. I say in (or at least match) at everywhere except princeton which is a reach. If youre URM, recruit, etc. you’re chanches sky rocket at princeton. chance back?

I didn’t list my ethnicity at all, since Middle Eastern is now considered white. I’m not sure if that would help or hurt, but too late now. Thanks for the replies!

I’m not seeing Princeton, and your CR score hurts, but I think you have a reasonable shot at Swat, Cornell and Vassar.

Reasonable chances everywhere, but nothing is outstanding so I don’t think any of them is a “match”. Good luck!

Chances look great, I’d say. Your grades are shockingly high and your essay topics sound interesting and unique. Solid. EC’s don’t stand out, so I’d make a note to work on those, but otherwise you seem like a fantastic candidate for those schools! And if you’d like, feel free to chance me back :)

To shift gears momentarily, could someone chance me for Northeastern Honors/University Scholars? Also, Boston University Honors.
