Have you been to collegeswimming.com and looked up Tulane under the teams menu or directly on the Tulane swimming & diving website? See how your times stack up to the fastest times for 2013-2014 season. Also whether you would score in their conference meet which is usually in February. You may have to convert your LCM to SCY times to make the comparison. Don’t look at current year times since these are untapered swims and the start of the season. While you’re at it you may want to create a profile and sophomore year isn’t too soon for this.
As to the academic fit maybe you can head over to Tulane University here on CC and see what kind of stats are being posted for applicants this year in neuroscience major.

Sarah,

Last year, a 56 in the 100 backstroke would have been among the fastest times for a Tulane woman in the conference championship.

For the 200 backstroke 2:00 would have been faster than any women swimmer for Tulane.

Both of these times would have scored points in the meet. Plus, one assumes/hopes that you won’t plateau out as a junior, and that by the time you get to college your times would be even lower.
Having looked very closely at Tulane last year for S14, my guess is that you are also academically competitive. You don’t mention whether the 3.8 is weighted or unweighted, and you don’t list SAT scores (?not taken yet), but I’m guessing that academics won’t be an obstacle.
Your EC’s look good, and you’ve shown leadership by being the captain of the swim team.

I imagine that you’re a year-round/USA swimmer? Hopefully your coach can give you some insight here.
I have no expertise (other than being the father of a swimmer who’s starting to go through this process), but you certainly look to be in pretty good shape.

Like all swimmers you’ve worked hard to get here. Congratulations, and good luck.

Did you contact the coach? You have to fill out the athletic questionnaire, otherwise the coach would have no clue that you’re interested. I’d do that soon as possible and hint that Tulane would be one of your top choices.

Nevermind, you’re a sophomore… Definitely do that junior year. For now focus on dropping your times and hitting a strong SAT score but you should definitely be a strong recruit for Tulane.

A 56 second 100 back and a 2:00 minute 200 would attract a lot of attention. Just remember that coaches are more interested in actual SCY times than projected or even converted ones. I believe that your LCM times convert to a 59+ 100 and a 2:06+ 200 which is impressive but won’t draw the interest that actually swimming your expected times would.
