School type: small town, no one cares about colleges
SAT I: going to take in Oct. predict score 2100-2200
SAT II: 800, 720, 700
GPA: 3.92 (uw)
Rank: 15/100
Recommendations: pretty good, above average.
Extra recommendation: superb!! from a volunteer organization i’ve been involved in since 5th grade. really showed my passion and commitment
ECs: started and presided 3 clubs in the school; national volunteer award; international human rights activist; published articles on national newspapers; interviewed by international magazines.
Essays: i talked about the volunteering organization i worked for since 5th grade and how it changed my life. i hope the admission staff can see my growth and positive qualities.

p.s. my counselor told me that UMich is a match/safety school, so i want to know my chances for even more selective colleges.

Your class rank will be tough for the elite universities. Your SAT II scores are decent.

Bottom line is, your ECs are great, but your academics may be a little too low to be accepted to the top tier of schools. You have a pretty good shot at U Chicago, but the top Ivies are definitely reaches for you.

almost all of the applicants to those top 20 schools have very similar numbers to you, but you have that 5th grade thing that sounds very impressive. certainly no school in the top 20 is a guarantee and you can’t really consider them a match because they all have so many applicants for so few spots. that being said, I like your strategy of using the 5th grade thing in your essay - it helps show how important it is and your passion and commitment (as you said), and i think you have a good shot at getting in at several of the top 20 schools.
UChicago has an abnormally high acceptance rate for a top school because it has a reputation for tons of work (i think you need 40 credits instead of the usual 32), but almost all of them are at most 20% overall - i hope my ramblings help you
