Was captain of chess team at Starpoint and led them to two league championships.

I am putting off Sat’s till june due to my intense exam schedule in early may

looks pretty good to me, but SATs count for a lot I would think, and essays and good reccomendations. I don’t see anything wrong, though. Good Luck! (except at Stanford, because I am '007 and applying there also…lol, jk)

do you think that my obviosu lack of many extracurriculars will be held against me considering my classes at the college

Maybe. I think as long as you demonstrate a lot of passion for the things you do participate in, you should be fine. Quality over quantity!

i used to do chess a lot but now my academics at the college take presidence. So do you think my passion for taking classes at the college would help me cover my missing extracuriculars?

Yes, explain that in your essays.

sdemjanenko,

I might have misread, but it looks like you’re trying to transfer to a different university from Buffalo. Is that right, or is it just that you’ve taken Buffalo classes in high school?

If you’re transferring, you’ll have to demonstrate clear and specific interest in your target schools. If you’re applying as a high school student, did you take the PSAT? I think that your SAT will be a pretty big determinant here. If you score well (high 700s-800) on each section, then it will probably come down to your essay. If you show personality in this essay, you’d have a good shot at getting into at least one these schools.

i’ve taken classes at the university at buffalo during highschool beginning this year, my junior year. Actually it got college credits through ub gifted math before but calc1-3 and general physics, which is calc based, were full college classes. I would assume mentioning this in the essay and interview would be a good idea.

Do you do any programming on the side, or do you run a website or anything like that? (Just asking because it seems related to your background.) Is there anything that you do that you’re intensely passionate about? Talking about that sort of thing is a much better use of your essay than talking about academics!

yeah make sure you demonstate passion in ECs…colleges classes are a good way to show your math/science interest, but maybe do some more club/programs things in the math and science field to show colleges you have a distinct interest. as the Above poster said, some programing on the side or some websites would also be okay.

i tried to start a science olympiad team this year since my new school didn’t have one but my mom got tired of picking me up 4 days a week, 3 for college classes so that fizzled out. I do do some programmign but i am more into math olympiads such as the AMC and AIME

i got my SAT subject test scores for May 2006 and yesterday i took the June 2006 SAT Reasoning

SAT Subect Tests:
Math Level 2 - 800
Physics - 800
