Colleges
Columbia - ED
UChicago - EA
WUSTL - RD
GWU - RD
NYU - RD
BU - RD
Tulane - RD
Depaul - RD
McGill - RD(There is only RD)

Intended Major - Economics
Feel free to tell me any other colleges that might go along with this list (Urban, Semi-Prestigious, etc…)

I will chance back!

Columbia: Reach
GWU: Match
Tulane: Match

As far as McGill is concerned, please, come back here after you cut freshman year off the GPA, since freshman year in high school is not taken into account. Plus I chanced you for everyone else…

Yeah my GPA for mcgill is a 3.65 and will be raised next year to at least a 3.7

What do you mean everyone else

BU is a match, NYU and McGill are high matches I think.

I mean the other schools on the list…

McGill: Safety

I’m glad it is a safety because it is one of my top choices due to finances and their location and their reputation

Here is a link that tells you exactly what the admission standards for each department t McGill are for American applicants. [Admissions Standards - U.S. High School | Applying to Undergraduate Studies - McGill University](http://www.mcgill.ca/applying/standards/unitedstates)

There is a fine line in Canadian schools between Reach and match since they are so stats driven. If you are a point or two above each of the standards posted on the above link for your desired department, you are a low match. If you are a point or two below you are a reach.

You definitely benefit from the fact that McGill doesn’t care about Freshman grades. If you can bring your last three year gpa to a 3.7+ you should be able to get into most departments at McGill, since your ACT score is good.

You should apply to Georgetown as well.

Economics is under Arts’ jurisdiction…

Yeah and arts has the lowest admission requirements. I was thinking about it teenbodybuilder. I actually know someone that works in the Econ department. I just don’t know if I want to take three subject tests

Columbia - Seeing as Columbia is an Ivy and a very hard university to get into, not counting the fact that you want to ED into Economics, I would consider applying ED. You have GREAT ec’s and if you keep your grades up, that’s great too. Make sure to get high marks on your AP’s Senior Year. You have A LOT of other good schools you’re applying to that you would have a much higher chance of getting into if you apply ED there.
UChicago - My friends goes here. Excellent Economics program. You think you have a chance.
WUSTL - Think about the location for Economics… it’s not really in an “urban” area if you consider DC and NYU as other options.
GWU - Most likely.
NYU - NYU alone is a hard school to get into (“up-coming” ivy). If you’re really interested, send letters, etc. Might get in.
BU - Definete. Maybe. Most likely.
Tulane - Not familiar with this… sorry :stuck_out_tongue:
Depaul - Since this is in Chicago, too, but lower bracket, I think you have a great chance here.
McGill - As Americans, it’s easier for us to get into schools abroad (compared with vice-versa). I think you have an EXCELLENT chance.

Thanks for the input everyone may I add American to that list?

American: Low match

Bumpppppppp

Columbia - reach
Chicago - reach
WUSTL - low reach
GWU - match
NYU - match NYU Stern - reach
BU - low match
Tulane - low match
DePaul - safety?
McGill - no idea
American - low match

Bumpp guys!

waitt… American University in DC?
dood, you have a chance at that

Hah thanks oxiclean

I think your ACT score will help a lot to compensate for your GPA. I am not too familiar with the schools you’ve listed but from the comments I think you will be fine! don’t stress too much and good luck!

I think all of your schools are either matches or safeties except for WashU, Columbia, and Chicago. Your GPA isn’t as much to worry about because you have shown a lot of improvement, which reflects well. Also your lack of APs soph and Jr year are your school’s fault, so colleges won’t punish you for it. UPenn and Northwestern are reaches you could consider. Also when you say Urban, do mean really close to downtown or anywhere within the limits of a large city as long as it avoids suburban-type neighborhoods?
