My strong point is writing. All components of my application (teacher recs, personal essay, SAT I writing score, etc.) will say this. Very good personal essay. Applying as a History or English major.

UCSD goes by a point system, whereby around 7700+ point gives you admission.

GPA is maxed out at 4500 points, with GPA X 1000, so you have 4200 points in this section. SAT includes SAT Subject test scores, with the formula (SAT I + II + II)*.8 so you would have 2576 from that.

So far total is 6776.

ELC gives you 300 points. So now 7076.

Unless ur personal essay is about death or cancer or something bad, UCSD gives no points. Led projects? From my knowledge, a leadership position is only president or VP, and if it’s only a club, two positions would give you 100 points. if it’s a schoolwide position, (ASB) it’s 200 points.

Teacher recs aren’t considered for UCSD admission.

Can’t say much about berkeley other than the fact that I heard they put essays through a computer scanner.

So I’m not sure how many points you’re gonna get over the calculated 7076.

Thanks. UCSD also says they give a max of 500 points for “Number of a-g courses beyond the minimum.” Do you know exactly how this is calculated? Because I’ve taken 4 years of everything + quite a few honors/AP classes (if that’s what they’re talking about).

Lol @ Joeshie’s mathematical calculations. Holistically, you’ll get into UCSD. You have a 50/50 shot at Berkeley. Your only weakness seems to be your SAT II’s.

According to him: You need 7700. Let’s say you have the max GPA, that’s 4500 leaving 3200 to make up. Assuming an OOS so no ELC, 3200 to make up with the (SAT 1+ SAT 2+ Sat 2) x .8 calculation. (2400 + 800 + 800) x .8 = 3200.

So an OOS applicant with perfect GPA, a 2400 SAT, and 2 800s on SAT2 barely qualifies? ****, best school in the world tbqh.
