Hi! I’m going to be a senior this year, and am looking forward to apply to UCLA. Given that I am a California Resident, is it that difficult to get accepted?
First, consider my stats:
ACT: 31 (expecting to retake for at least 32)
SAT II- Biology E: 750, Math II: 780
UW GPA: 3.75
W GPA: 4.6
Rank: Top 2%
AP Classes: AP W. History, AP US History, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics, AP Language and Composition, AP Literature and Composition, AP Gov/Econ, AP Seminar, AP Research.
**Passed all exams with 3
Extra-Curriculars:
*Red Cross:
-Board Member of RV/SB Red Cross Chapter
-Chairman of two Counties
-PR-Chair of two Counties
-President of Club
-Vice-President of club
*Awards: Red Cross Youth Award (Highest Distinction), Volunteer Recognition Award
*Tennis: Varsity & JV (3 years total)
*Other: SNHS, Speech and Debate, Best Buddies, CSF, AP Capstone program: Research based AP program. (Consists of AP Seminar & AP Research)
*Other Awards: New Star Scholarship Winner, AP Capstone Diploma, AP Scholar with Distinction, 1st place Public Forum Debate
*Summer Activities: Lab Research & Volunteering @ Loma Linda Hospital, Red Cross Leadership Development Camp
*Essay: Unique background, creative, and insightful message.
Besides, my inferior academic background…which my ACT later on is the only hope, how hard would it be for me to get accepted? If an admissions officer were to see my transcript, they wouldn’t be too surprised by my academics; however, I believe that the AP Capstone, essay, and my commitment to the Red Cross come across as “unique” perhaps?
How would you chance me?
