Chances for UCSD or USC

I am now a Senior and I attend Diamond Bar High School, a competitive school with a high percentage of Asians attending. Veryyy high percentage.
Female
Korean.
I wanted to see how I stack up and UCSD seems to be somewhat in my reach whereas USC will be quite the reach… But I wanted someone to evaluate. Thanks!

Sophomore year:
Mod World History A/A
ARchitecture A/A
Chemistry Honors A/A
English 2 honors A/A
Math Analysis/Calc Honors (5 on calc ab ap test) B/B
Spanish 2 honors B/B+
PE A/A

Junior Year:
Advanced Architecture/Engin A/A
Calc 2 B/B ( 4 on Ap test… )
Ap Chemistry B+/B ( 3 on Ap test … x_x )
English 3 Honors (weighted class) A/A
Modern American History A/A
SPanish 3 A/ B+ (need to talk to teacher next year because the B+ should be an A… I still have missing assignments and extra credit my teacher never put in …)

Should be getting an A in Health this summer as well.

Senior Year (planning to take)
AP Lit (expecting an A)

Adv Eng (expecting an A)

Civics/ AP econ (expecting A/B)

IB math HL expecting a B (highest math to take in my school but non IB students are allowed to take this course)

AP Physics C expecting a … B-? ( Not sure whether I should go through with this class, teacher does not teach at all and course is extremely difficult)

I should have about a 3.67+ unweighted gpa
1920 SAT
29 ACT
Planning to take sat II Math (planning to get somewhere in 700s, do not really know if i can get an 800)

  • Interning at UCI’s engineering dept. this summer ( planning to get a letter of rec from professor)
-Volunteered at the California Science Center
  • Played cello (quit junior year)
  • FBLA member, won 3rd place Help Desk at the State Leadership Conference
-Planning to volunteer at the Paleontology Lab.

I know my EC’s are pretty weak but I’m hoping the award I got at state and the letter of rec I may possibly get will benefit me a little.
I also know my test scores are not up to par either but I guess i did not really study much for any of them so I am at fault in that situation I suppose…

I think for UCSD it is a high match, and USC is a medium reach

chance back?

It sort of depends on what you’re planning in majoring in. But hey, I’m Korean and attending UCSD this fall :)

The average for this year was a 29 ACT for UCSD, UCLA, and UCB but this is the AVERAGE remember again. There are definitely people much higher and lower than this number. You could try and take the September or October ACT again or the October SAT and see if you can raise your score - that would really help you.

My unweighted GPA was a bit higher than yours but UC’s will generally recalculate for the UC GPA (something they look at a lot)

For EC’s, it really depends on your passion, length of time doing it, and stuff like that

But really, focus on those UC statements; they count a lot
