Hey All~ I am an international freshman currently studying in U of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, major in Recreation, Sport and Tourism (not my choice). I applied Fall 2010 and also change my major. I am willing to major in Statistics. I am pretty worried because I have received a deferral from Texas A&M, they need my spring transcript to make the final decision, which really disappointed me. I still have these colleges left, and I love them…
GPA: 3.93 (related courses: STAT200 Statistical Analysis A+, others are communication, econ, major courses, all A-, A, A+)
SAT: 1900 (not good…i do not have time to review it)
TOEFL: 103
Work: Department of Statistics, Undergraduate Grader
Honor: Dean’s List
Honor Student nomination
Freshman Honor Society
Recommendation: One from Stat 200 Professor
One from communication course instructor
Current related courses: Calculus 2, Calculus 3 (summer)
My problem is I only took one STAT course, I cannot take other STAT courses since they are all 400-level and I have to finish calculus courses first.
UT-Austin is my first choice, I have family members in Austin
UW-Seattle has pretty great STAT department and Seattle is amazing…
UNC, low tuition and high quality, i define it as a “reach”
I heard that those public universities prefer in-state students…deferred by A&M, upset now…
Thanks~
