Chances for various colleges

I’ve been looking into colleges that are/have:
Creative Writing/Writing/Writing-focused English major
Perhaps minoring in music, Asian studies, or Japanese if possible
Must have a study-abroad program in Japan
Mostly small to medium sized colleges
Mostly private
Location doesn’t really affect the decision

Colleges I have interest in thus far:
Marquette University
Lakeland College
University of Iowa
Loras College
Butler University

Just for kicks, I guess I’d like to know chances for Ivies. Ohio State too, seeing as how I was born there. Or if there are any suggestions for colleges based on my stats, that’d be appreciated as well.

Anyways, stats are as follows:

Gender: Male
Location: Wisconsin
Currently a senior. HS graduate of '08
High School: Public

GPA - Unweighted: 3.54
Class Rank: top 25%

ACT (with writing): 28

Extracurriculars:

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) school group member - 10, 11
SADD President - 12

Sports:
Varsity Track - 11, 12
JV Soccer - 8, 10, 11
Varsity Soccer - 12

Ushering during Chruch mass
Church pancake breakfasts
Confirmed in the Catholic Church

Music:
Able to play the violin, piano, guitar, and mandolin. Guitar and mandolin have been self-taught
Violining at school functions; district administration banquets, 8th grade orientations, craft fairs
District and State medals for various string and violin quartets

Artwork has been displayed at school district galleries as well as in the Wisconsin State Fair

AP’s:
AP European History - 3
Will be taking AP Psychology and AP Language and Composition this coming year

I’ve studied Japanese for 5 years total after this coming year, and recently came back from a 2-week school trip to Japan this summer.

you’ll get in those top 3 schools. no chance at ivies.

might be able to get into osu

yay fellow wisconsin user! are you apply to any uw schools at all?

btw, i think iowa has a really good english program

I’m not really looking at UW schools in general. Madison is a bit big for my tastes. I’ve been through UWM many times over my life, and I never was really compelled by it. Otherwise I haven’t really looked at many UW or state school options.

Shoot, forgot to put being a National Honor Society member into my EC’s. So I’ve got that going for me as well.

Also forgot to mention that I have been in the Gifted and Talented program since sophomore year, a program that is considered a step above Honors courses. Not sure if its just my district that has these courses, but I’ve been atleast Honor course level nonetheless.

In everywhere on your list.

No Ivies except a high reach for Cornell.

Are you applying ED anywhere?

To keep my options open for different colleges and to get the best financial aid package I can get, I don’t plan to ED anywhere, no.

Just bumping to see if there are any other opinions.

Ivies…no, not even Cornell.

Look into Macalester/Carleton. Little, midwestern schools with great Japanese/Eastern Asian studies programs.
