Chances for WUSTL and USC?

Where do I stand?. I’m applying for business/finance, so standards are slightly lower I suppose. Thanks in advance.

School does not rank.

Attending a magnet high school.

Ethnicity: White

Gender: Male

SAT2: 760 PHYS, 760 M1, 640 M2 (haven’t got my nov. scores; M2 should go up)

Extracurriculars: Stock portfolio manager, eBay store manager, manage parents’ small business office, volunteer in local ICU and ER, built my own functional website, HOSA member (on committee of events), raised $600 for Relay for Life.

WUSTL: Reach
USC Marshall: High match

Get yourself a safety!

Cool, that’s pretty spot-on with what I thought. Let’s get some more opinions.

But no worries! I’ve gotten 4 acceptances thus far, 2 being full tuition.

I agree with Catria. Your UW GPA and SAT are a little low for WUSTL, but it’s not entirely out of the question. You have very good chances at USC. Good luck!

USC is a match.
WUSTL is one of the best schools in the country. Really starting to contend with ivies. Im going to have to say reach because they usually look for higher sat’s. Still great grades and scores. I recommend looking into Emory or Vanderbilt which are a lot like WUSTL, but less competitive.

:D excited. I requested an interview for Wash. U and have requested information. I couldn’t visit, and didn’t know enough to apply EDI at the time :/. Already applied to Emory. Might apply to Vandy too!

I can’t really speak on USC, sorry. I’d say WUSTL is a reach, though. I’m also applying there. They’ll probably want to see a little higher GPA, as well as maybe 100 or 200 more on the SAT. On the bright side, though, you’ve got a pretty good set of focused ECs that showcase your talents. And your subject test scores are quite good. Try to get those SATs up if you can, and good luck.

How big a reach would you say?

I put a big focus in my common app essay on why my grades aren’t where I feel I’m capable (no electives at magnet; more or less hate my schedule fresh-junior). They will see my senior year GPA as 3.8ish UW or so, which is my true potential, I believe.

I can’t say much on WUSTL.

For USC your SAT and Subject Tests are good. I’d say you’re a solid candidate (High Match at most) considering that you’re attending a magnet school and that you’re activities involve your major somewhat, but have safeties that you would be satisfied going to if anything!

I’d say a reach/low reach. I’m not the most knowledgeable, however. I could be wrong. The two things that I’d say they would want higher is that SAT I and your GPA. Even just raising it .1 or .2 points more.

My GPA’s climbing this year, so I’ll meet that. Won’t retake SAT’s! Never ever.

Pat on the back for everyone in this thread for staying positive- rare thing on CC!
