Chances for Yale Law admit fall 2011

I am a junior at Carlson at the University of Minnesota-TC, and I was wondering what my resume would pretty much have to be to get into Yale Law. I currently have a 4.0 and a significant amount of leadership/membership in organizations and I was named a Coca Cola Scholar National Finalist this past year. I just transferred to Carlson from a community college in ND and wanted to know what I would need to be involved in to even be considered a competitive candidate. Thanks for the input!

The major factor at this point is an LSAT score. There are other things that will also be necessary, but that’s the easy one to evaluate. Once that’s in place, we can talk about other components.

With a 4.0 you will still need 170+ and a good hook/essay to get in. Yale tends to be a big crap shoot as far as admissions go.

If you are majoring in business–I think that’s what Carlson means–it’s extremely unlikely you’ll get into YLS. You’ll need something extra to overcome that–URM or legacy status, some really unusual life experience, etc.

Never say never, but business majors at YLS are exceedingly rare.
