Chances get into NYU? or Top50? 2.9 GPA, 2000ish SAT, hardest classes

i came to US about four years ago as an international student(still is, On F-1 Visa)

My cumulative GPA is 2.826(Unweighted) 2.926(Weighted)

  1. My first year grade(freshmen year) is around 2.5ish because lack of English. [Sheltered English B]
  2. Sophomore year I basically had a really huge mental problem(in huge depression) with i-was-in-love-with-somebody problem including cutting myself, because i couldnt cry to relief my feeling, so i got 4B 2A 1F(on a online class, dont take them, just dont.) [Sheltered English B]
  3. Junior year i have like 3.612(weighted), because i took AP Gov and AP Chinese got [2As] on them and of course two 5s on the exams. math was pre-cal [Regular English 11th C]
  4. Senior year, aka now. I'm taking AP stats/APUSH/AP Environmental Science, planning to take a AP Econ over internet.

Do I have any possibility to get into NYU Gallatin school? or just in general top50…?

your GPA is really low for top schools. Unless you have some unique ECs or an amazing essay, it"s not likely

sorry that i didnt put down the EC part.

I went to Mexico during the Spring break with school to do missionary volunteer stuff. (10th grade)
I had 4 paid jobs at all of my summer vocations, including Phone Banking, Passing out flyers on the streets, helped some institution applied British Visa for their clients, and also worked at my dads pawnshop(pawnshop in china is just a legal loanshark business, they can charge 5% interest per month.)
I am a CTO in some educational NGO, also a Organizer and participant in a Startup Idea Fair in my city.
Leadership in school clubs: Officer in International Club for 2 years, secretary in Math Club for 2 years.

Admissions counselors are told to ignore expensive volunteer trips abroad, because schools know it’s something only well-off kids have access to.

Unless that educational NGO achieves international prominence in the next few months, a 2.9 isn’t going to cut it at NYU-or most top 50 schools. You need to ask your school’s guidance counselor for some more realistic choices.

No, sorry.
You need to be looking at schools that admit 75% or more of their applicants. Nothing in the top 100 or so.

it probably going to be a 3.2 by the end of the first quarter.

Lots of applicants will have similar ECs as yours. So unless you are a development case (i.e. your parents are MAJOR donors), yout GPA isn’t remotely close to par.

You said to never take an online class, but yet you want to take AP Econ online this year??

Yep exactly because they dont worth the same.
