Chances into American U? Low GPA + High LSAT + Legacy

Hey, I’m at Cornell junior with a 2.5 GPA and a 170 LSAT score. I took both a GMAT and an LSAT recently, with both scoring within the 98-99 percentile.

My mom attended American U as an undergrad.

Do I have a chance at American Law School?

no one here can give you a definite answer. Just apply and see what happens. But a 170 LSAT is way good (98%) so I think you’ll be pretty successful with law school admission. My hunch is, you’ll get into American U.
good luck!!

Based on what you mentioned in this thread, I would agree with marny. However I read your other thread and it makes the situation look dire:

I honestly think you should take some years off working to distance yourself from your GPA. Academic probation is hard to explain in a law school application and although adcomms care most about your cumulative GPA, they also care about grade trends. A drop from 3.8 to 1.7 is very difficult to explain.
