Well, there are a lot of students out there that are SOO much better than me. But I was wondering, what are my chances of getting into Stanford and U.C. Davis veterinary school? How about Yale or Harvard?
Well, what are my chances? Do I even have a chance to get into these schools?

Well, can anyone help me? Please?

We need an SAT score. Everything else looks really good. You obviously have a good, unifying theme that is evident in your EC’s and from what looks to be a good courseload, but check back on the Chances board when you have SAT scores. Go take a practice test and tell us how you do.

You have unique interests, and that will help. The top schools are looking for someone different, and that is you. Be sure to consider finances. Many people get into Stanford and other top schools, but can’t afford to attend. Investigate whether or not you need aid and whether or not you qualify the the aid that each school has available.

Thanks to both of you!

Well, I am still not sure if I will have money to pay for SATs and ACTs. It is just sooo expensive. In fact, I have checked Stanford’s financial aid program that I qualify for, it is very good…but I think that I might just have to go to community college because I am not going to be able to pay for most colleges even with the financial aid (including Stanford). I think that my plan is going to be:

2 years community college (GE/lower divisions)
2 years at UC Davis or 4 year school (upper divisions and other)
4-6 years at UC Davis Vet School
2-3 years of internships and additional training.

Yep, becoming a vet is probably going to take me 10-13 years.

P.S.- I am glad that I have found my passion: animals. I see many other teens try to do community service, they go from one to the other and it seems like they just do it for college, I don’t think that they enjoy doing it. I feel lucky to have found something that I love doing so MUCH!

Thanks for the response!

Sounds like a good plan. With your grades and other background, you should get enough aid to go straight to UC Davis and not CC. They do waive SAT fees for low income students, too. Your guidance office should have the necessary forms. Good luck!

I didn’t even know that they waived the SAT fee!
Thanks, I think that I will do that. :)
