chances? (junior)

Ok so I’m a junior living in New York and i just wanted to know what my chances are if i apply next year
GPA: 3.95 weighted
SAT: 1900 (but i plan on retaking them)
APS: 5 on world history, taking us history and english lang. and comp
SAT IIs: 720 on world, taking us and math 1
Extracurriculars: Varsity track and cross country, national honor society, chamber orchestra, gold award for girl scouts, stduent gov., debate team, model u.n.

Also i’m getting a recommendation from the principal, and plan on majoring in history which is where my highest aps/sat IIs are

Just a thought. Maybe you should just study for your AP exams and do well in two more exams (two more 5s would be good). Just make sure the two AP exams you take will meet the criteria set forth in NYU’s Admissions web page on standardized tests.

Also, if you can use World Hx and Comp to fulfill the requirements of three AP exam scores, then I recommend you skip the AP English Language exam since NYU does not give any credit for AP English LANGUAGE exam scores upon enrollment at NYU, no matter how well you do. Only if you are thinking primarily of NYU. Other colleges may give credit for this particular exam though.

Your SATs are on the lower end of the range for NYU. As I stated, focus on your AP exams (if they meet the different AP exam categories) unless you are also applying to other colleges which require the SATs.

Oops, I thought you are taking four AP exams, including a Computer Science course. Since you are not, you do not have an AP in math or science. then you might want to focus on your SAT IIs for NYU since the one you got already is solid at 720. But again, make sure you are taking SAT IIs in the required categories for NYU.

By the way, your weakest area is the standardized test score, based on the SAT Is. the other areas look good, though I would focus on maintaining or even improving the junior year/ first half senior year GPA. Also, make sure to write a strong essay.

Your SAT needs to go up to the 2000+ range. I think you’ll probably be LSPed.

Thanks so much, I’m gonna try to bring my SAT up it was really only the math that was bringing me down. Any opinions about the ACT? I think I might just take the June one and see how I do
