Chances @ moon

I would like to go to college on the international space station, or, preferably, the moon. I want to be a moonologist that studies the moon using moon-math. (I made it up all on my own, like Euler but on the moon.)

I’m a junior, senior next year. Living in California, 1/2 Irish, 1/8 Sicilian, 1/8 German, 1/8 Lebanese, 1/8 Syrian.

I don’t know my exact GPA but I believe it’s above 3.5.
SAT I: 2180
Critical Reading 680, Math 760, Writing 740
(this was my first time taking it, what should I study to improve CR?)

SAT IIs: Math2 780, Biology 740

Freshman:
Took Algebra2/trig and also Precalculus, A+s
all honors
One C+ in geography, B in biology honors, A in the rest.
Helped start a math club and was president, but it fell apart :(. At first everyone was real enthusiastic but then we realized that we were taking so many math classes that talking about it after school was a bit ridiculous.
Was on track throwing, but Precalculus was offered after school at the same time so I dropped it.
Part of the Leo (lions) club and speech and debate.

Sophomore:
Bio AP got a B, 4 on the AP test.
Statistics AP got highest grade, 5 on the test. First year teacher, and he left afterwards. I basically taught myself. Only my friend and I got 5s, there were a couple 4s and everyone else bombed.
all honors, As
Joined the math and science bowl and played a bunch of seniors with a sophomore team as our best people from the school.
Joined the world affairs challenge and got acquainted with it.

Junior:
WON the world affairs challenge. I got more awards than anyone else, even that really nerdy kid that I laughed at from the year before. yay.
Took psychology and sociology at the local community college.
chem honors, AP calculus AB and BC, AP history, AP english.
I passed them all with B and higher, math all 'A+'s still. Haven’t gotten the results of my AP tests, but I am confident that I got 5 in calculus and 3 or a 4 in history and English
I joined badminton and really enjoy it. I am playing for fun over the summer and will play next year too, even though this is like badminton capitol of the United States and every Asian kid who’s been playing since grade 2 is kicking my ass consistently.

This summer (right now) I am taking a C++ class and CS-101.

Next year I am taking calculus 3

I have done over 70 hours of tutoring in math and technology.
I worked with needy kids for service learning hours
I wrote haikus about my junior high school experience and they were put into the program for our graduation.
I do a lot with the LEO club, mostly with the elderly.
I am vice president of the LEO club next year.
My grandma liked one of my photographs so much that she submitted it to some eclectic grandma-magazine publication and it got in. Uh…
I make fractals in my spare time and people like them.
I moderate a web community? Does anyone care?? I really don’t know.
I set up a website to lure people into thinking they were getting a game exploit and I made them write haikus and translate binary just so they could unlock a .zip that contained a picture of a cute goat. Hundreds of people, it was a great personal psychology experiment.
Both my parents have had cancer at different times. This really affected me. They almost died and are extremely lucky cases, but it may come back at any time.
People like me, babies stop what they are doing to stare in mysteriously in my presence.
I am a strong atheist, and I was selected for a school-wide speech I wrote on why God doesn’t exist, and I got booed and didn’t have a nervous breakdown.
I’m an extremely logical person, but I still care about the human condition and try to help people out when I can.
I lend money to strangers without expecting it back. And I don’t get it back. And that’s okay.
I am very cool-headed and go with the flow of what already is, but I feel moved to take action with my life and make a difference.
I love learning and I do my best to learn material rather then go for a grade. I do best at the end-of-the-year tests like finals because my memory is had to get things in, but they stay forever.
I play chess casually, there is no chess team at my school. I was very good in 3rd grade and won shiny trophies and then I moved.
Oh, I’ve moved 12 times. I had 4 grade schools in 4th grade, which left me with a strange view on friendship and people in general.
My deepest darkest secret is that I’m better than everyone else ever, but I wouldn’t tell you that if this wasn’t the internet. Shhh.

Thanks for any replies, and remember, I want to start something here.
The. Moon. salute

apply to Orthodox Jewish Yeshiva University, i bet you’d fit in good there

I love the haiku code thing you did. That sounds awesome.

THE MOON! =]

your experience seem good for essay topics. SAT can be easily improved w/ a little studying. Yeshiva is good, but consider Brown as a reach.

That’s a low GPA at most CA public schools. What’s your rank?

@UCgradmary, you’re right. I believe my rank is in the top 10%, which is pretty bad admittedly. The problem is that many people at my school don’t take honors or AP, so there is a lot of unweighted high GPA people. Weighted I think I am in the top 10 out of about 420 people. I don’t have my current transcript. My only bad grade is a C in geography freshman year. I could explain what happened, but I already wrote my life story so I’ll spare you  I have about 7 Bs in my recollection, maybe more.

I think 5 people from my school went to Berkeley this year, and that was the best. It’s very confusing trying to get past my counselors that want me to go to community college and find out for myself what I should really be doing.

I have high dreams for myself helping the world somehow no matter what school I go to, I just think the inherent launch to cutting-edge and pay boost that comes with a prestigious school would help me get there faster.

Thanks in advance for the help guys :). I plan on applying to lots of places. This is an investment, may as well spend on applications even if I have a 1% chance.
