CHANCES/need some safeties! will chance back

Hey guys, here are the stats:

New England resident
GPA: ~4.4 W (unsure about what it is UW)
Have taken many of the honors/AP classes available
Testing: 26 ACT
Rank: top 10%

Editor-in-Chief of school newspaper
National Honors Society
Spanish Honors Society
Officer of SADD
Founder of our school's World Affairs Counsel, as well as a leader
Co-founder of Debate Team
Class Representatives
Students for Global Change (President soph year)
Volunteer at local library
Volunteered at a village in Kenya for over 3 weeks
First place at a MUN conference
Worked on 2008 Presidential campaign
some others, but these are probably some of the more significant ec's

I am going to major in International Relations, and my college essay is very good (as I've been told). Teacher recs are great

I've applied RD to:
GWU (interview went really well)

My big issue is my ACT and the fact that I got a C in honors chem last year, which has caused me to worry greatly about getting into these unis. So any help with some matches or safeties would be great, as well as my chances for these schools. If you would like a chance back, I'd love to! Thank you

I would need to see your unweighted GPA to be able to judge - if you know all of your grades throughout high school you should be able to calculate it easily enough.

I am pretty sure it is either a 3.6 or 3.8

Assuming it is a 4.4/5.0 you have a good shot at these except BU and Northeastern. I think that your ec's good, your recs should be good, and your overall background in international affairs are good. Therefore I think the above mentioned schools should only be a slight reach.

BU- Reach (low)
Syracuse- Match/Low Reach
GWU- Match
American- Reach
Northeaster- Low Reach/Match

chance back please :)

<a href="">;/a></p>

thank you! more chances?

bumppppp. some more feedback?

Syracuse: match
BU: low reach
GWU: match
American: ?
Northeastern: low reach

You have pretty good stats and a good amount of ECs, which will help you at these schools.

Good luck!

<a href="">;/a></p>

Syracuse, American and BU accept >50% of applicants, GW accepts about 37% (a lot higher than that ED, lower than that RD), Northeastern about 36%.

So: If anything, NE and GW are reaches, the others matches.

How about UMass Amherst and UNH as safeties?

Lol what? BU listed as a reach? are you guys insane?

Syracuse - bring up the ACT/SAT don't know if you took the SAT and you should be match
BU - match
GWU (interview went really well) reach
American ?
Northeastern reach

You know, your grades are excellent. Have you considered the test optional schools? <a href="">;/a> Just to be safe.

thanks everyone! and i think i might try for a test optional school if deadlines haven't passed

Syracuse-- Match
BU-- low reach/high match
GWU (interview went really well)-- match
American-- reach
Northeastern-- low reach

Check out my thread if you have time. Your input is appreciated :p.

You'll probably get in to at least one: BU, American or Syracuse. You're getting some incorrect advice here, so take heed. GW and NE are your reaches. BU, American, and Cuse are matches.

okay thank you very much, do you think it will help at all if i send these schools the info that i am an al neuharth scholar for my state?

Syracuse- Match
American- Match/Low reach

<a href="">;/a></p>

Once again- these people are misinformed. GW and NE are reaches, Cuse, BU, and American are matches.

Okay, are Syracuse and BU fairly equal when it comes to selectivity? Or will it come down to being accepted at one or the other?

^^^^ anyone know? Because BU is undoubtedly my first choice, so now I am getting a bit nervous.
