Chances (NYU TISCH)....??

I’m a rising Senior, and I’m going to base the post off of what I should have by the time I graduate as far as GPA. I was on the “slack track” my Freshman and Sophomore year and had some tragedies in my life, but I have really got my butt in gear and I am getting straight A’s now and that’s what I plan on getting on throughout next year which shouldn’t be hard for me. I’m dual enrolling this Summer at a local Community College and taking online AP courses to catch up. Ive already done all the calculating and figured out what I can get if I do end up getting all straight A’s in the classes I plan on taking which are all AP and 3 dual enrollment classes, and 2 AP online courses each semester. Also a little tidbit I’m fluent in American Sign Language.

Tisch will care more about your portfolio than your stats. You should maybe work on preparing that instead of taking online AP courses.

hmm but in the admissions forums they said academics and portfolio are both equally important.

Don’t bother with taking any SATs man! Your ACT covers everything! Plus Tisch doesn’t even require SAT II’s. And 30’s a solid score, especially for the first-time. If anything, just take your ACT again to boost your score instead of wasting time on the SATs.

And if your film has won some awards, they should be good enough for Tisch, definitely. I’d say you’re a shoo-in man. The only thing wrong with you that I can see is a low GPA, which I also had (I had a 3.45 uw) but overall you’re a competitive applicant. Just ace your essays!

Well, you obviously can’t have failed all your classes, but you get more leeway than, say, Stern or CAS applicants. If you can bring your GPA up to that 3.5 without taking those online AP classes, then maybe spend that time on your portfolio. If your portfolio is already ready, then take the classes.
