Chances of a CSU > CC > UC transfer?

I’ve just wrapped up my first semester at CPP and i’m not really happy here. If i go to CC for a year after my next semester at CPP, is my chance at a UC transfer the same as any other CC student? Also, is it okay to apply undeclared as a transfer? If so, is it hard to change into CS at UCI? Thanks.

As long as you complete a minimum of 30 semester units at the CCC by time of matriculation, you will get the CCC priority for transfer.

No, you cannot apply as Undeclared as a Transfer student.

Changing into CS at UCI as an admitted Transfer is not guaranteed and you cannot begin the process until attending for 1 quarter which may put you behind. Also if you are not admitted directly into the major, registering for the required courses to switch may be difficult since admitted students in the major get priority.

Can I Enroll in Your Classes This Fall Quarter? Our courses are restricted to majors only to accommodate our new admitted students in the fall. (To see when our restrictions lift, please visit our course updates page.)

Can a New Transfer Student Change Majors?

  • Transfer students are encouraged to accept admission to a computing major they are directly admitted into (instead of pursuing a change of major) and make efficient progress to degree.
  • If a transfer student wishes to pursue the change of major, they may view our change of major criteria.
  • Transfer students must complete one full time quarter (not including summer) to be considered for change of major.
  • We do not make exceptions to the unit caps listed on the Change of Major website.

UCI Change of major

Do you know how competitive the Software Engineering major is? And if it’s any easier than CS to get into? Also do you know about the UCI honors to honors agreement? I heard next year it’s changing to not allow CS majors but will this include Aoftware Engineering? Thanks!

UCI Transfer admit rate and GPA range (25th-75th percentile)

CS: 20% UC GPA 3.85-4.00

SE: 51% UC GPA 3.64-3.85

This data is from 2023 CCC admits. 2024 data should be out in January/February.

I know about the Honor to Honors agreement but I was not aware of any changes but due to impaction for the major, it makes sense.

What does CS:, SE: mean?

CS is Computer Science. SE is Software Engineering.
