Chances of Acceptance?

so i’m very curious as to my acceptance potential to the following colleges:

Roger Williams University
University of Tampa
Roanoke University
University of Rhode Island
West Virginia University

I consider myself a very bright person although i had quite a slip-up most of highschool due to other interests… 2.5 GPA as of the end of my Junior year. I am positive my senior year semester alone will result in no less than a 3.7 GPA, as so far I have all A’s. I truly regret not having applied myself properly in the past few years because its only now that I am actually mature enough to realize how much I actually care about school and having a good future. Considering that my grades will drastically improve and I have earned an S.A.T. score of 1770 (540-610-620), do I have some pretty decent chances of getting accepted to these schools or anywhere with a good reputation?

Could you maybe suggest any other schools that I might fit in to? $42,000 per year max.

p.s.- I am registered as Hispanic, I have no legal charges, decent extra-curriculars, and can write a damn good essay

Thanks

You can afford up to $42K per year for school?

Yes, at the absolute most. I know its a lot of money and i’m beyond greatful that my parents are willing to spend that much. 42K in particular is pushing it a bit, although if I love the school, it gives me a good education, and I prove that I am willing to maintain high grades, they feel that it is money well spent.

Many schools are going to figure your GPA based on grades 9-11. So, that may be a problem.

What do you mean by “I’m registered as a Hispanic and I have no legal charges”??? That sounds funny. Are you saying that you are a Hispanic male and you’ve never been arrested?? Do you think we’d think that you had been??? Believe me…no one here would think you’ve been arrested! LOL Kids!!! :)

Is there a region in the country where you want to go to school?

Do you want…
a big school
small school
warm weather
cold/very cold weather
school with a strong sports program (spirited atmosphere for football or basketball)
religious school
what will be your likely major

Haha, i just put that there for fun. I’ve read that many colleges will request an interview or a written essay pertaining to any drastic changes that they were curious to know about. I hope this will be the case for me. The schools I posted above are basically my top and final choices, although if you could find any others:

medium sized (3,000-19,000)
preferably warm weather, although the nice scenery in RI compensates for the weather
a spirited atmosphere would be cool since i’m into sports
preferably non-religious, but i can bend for moderately religious schools
business, pharmacy, economics, communications

I’m pretty sure that only URI and WVU have pharmacy programs, unless you were talking about taking pre-pharmacy courses at the others and transferring. You won’t be accepted into URI’s pharmacy program with either your gpa or SAT. WVU is a 2+4 PharmD program so you might get in there if you can do well on your pre-requisite courses. How much science and math have you taken? I would recommend investigating pharmacy more and at least shadowing a pharmacists if you are thinking of going down that road - it’s a very tough 6 years and takes alot of commitment starting with your first semester!

Pharmacy is a back-up for me to be honest, but I appreciate all of that info, sk8rmom. I am primarily intersted in business, and then going to grad school for either economics, psychology, or law. U of Tampa apparently has a good business program and i’m up for yearlong sunshine:)

I will graduate this year with the following credits:

Science ------4
Math----------4
History--------4
English--------4
Foreign Lang—4
Electives------4
Fine Arts------2
Health/P.E.----2

i didnt take any b.s. electives btw if that helps…
marketing, business management/law, psychology, anthropology

oh and also adelphi university
