Brandeis GPA low because Mom died in first few weeks freshman year. No other family. Managed a house/houses and multiple investment accounts throughout undergrad. Depression too but I try not to focus on that in essays because I feel it may appear weak.
No full time work experience but i run my own house flipping business. Started it at 20 (upgrading and selling my own house) and flip multiple houses per year. Ive made substantial profit and I want to use this as work experience on app. My logic is that without work experience or an advanced business degree I could not successfully apply at and be hired to work in any firm that would offer me a salary greater than the profit I make operating my business.
Through the investment firm with whom I am invested I have access to an exceptional internship (in which i would be able to function as an asset manager equivalent to the firm’s owner(with a great great great deal of oversight)-he and I have become very close and he offered me this opportunity when I told him of my b-school aspirations-he could also serve as a third rec from a supervisor)–I could also attempt to turn this into a full time position but it might take a couple of years.
My plan is to continue operating my business, license it as a small company, intern with my investment firm and remain in graduate programs in public policy, government and international relations until b-school application. My passion lays in new global governance theory implementation. Ideally everything would come together to allow me to work in international corporate law. I hope to enter a Masters of Public Admin program within the coming year to continue with this plan.
This degree path is my way of studying that which most interests me while building it into a successful career.
My main concern is my undergraduate gpa. I know that I can achieve far better, hopefully 4.0s but that gap will remain to stain my record. This is why I plan on continuing my graduate program progression. I have the financial means to remain in school indefinitely and remaining in school allows me to advance in my career without devoting the hours full time work requires.
