I’m a high school senior at a small private school in Connecticut. I have a B-B+ average and have good extracurriculars. My sister goes to Tulane and my parents have donated a good amount of money there over the past few years, what are my chances of getting in? I applied EA and it is my first choice.

What were your test scores? AP classes? See other posts for the kind of detail usually supplied.

My scores were varied, I took the ACTs and on my last test got mid 20s for math and science (this is consistent with my high school grades, I’ve always excelled in English, History and Language and did terribly in Math and Science), a 31 in the English and a 29 on English/Writing combined so that scores are within the margin. I’ve been in honors classes throughout high school as well.

What does “within the margin” mean? Anyway, having a sibling there and your parents giving money helps, that’s the real world, but it only helps up to a point. You don’t give enought info to do a real assessment.

Stamford - What did you write your essay on?

By within the margin I mean some of my scores are equal with the average of previous applicants listed on a college organizer website. I wrote my essay on my experience at a boarding school and how I found 20 minutes to myself every morning before the day began and how its helped me in various situations.

Your academic stats may be “within the margins” but your application will sink or fly on the rest of your application. Legacy plus Full-pay plus decent English scores plus decent ECs plus EA (plus a major that isn’t math/science or not wildly popular like Business or Pre-Med or Latin Studies) suggests that you’ll be accepted. Let us know how it turns out.

Still not enough info to be helpful, stamford. Yes, Tulane’s stats show students on average have stronger verbal than math SATs, but can’t ell where you fall without more data.

THis sounds similar to another poster from last year. Was that you, with a different SN?
