Chances? Of burning out? Progress check!

Grr… I’ve been fighting with my school over classes for months… We were on A/B schedule for this year, and we’re switching to block scheduling.

Freshman schedule (A/B schedule):
Honors World History
Honors English I
Honors Writing
Honors Engineering
Algebra II Standard (online) (No honors offered) met everyday 1st semester
Pre-cal Honors (online) - met everyday 2nd semester
AP Art History (online)- met everyday year-long Hoping for 4-5 AP grade

I’m expecting to end with a 4.75-4.9 weighted GPA this year.

Sophomore schedule (As currently approved) Block schedule:
1st semester:
AP Calculus BC (online)
AP Physics B (online)
Dual-enrollment Spanish I (weighted Standard) online
Honors English II

2nd Semester:
AP Calculus BC (online)
AP Physics B (online)
Dual-enrollment Spanish II (Weighted Honors)
Honors Chemistry
Dual-enrollment Biology [Contingent on 1st semester grades]

As it turns out, Chemistry and English II are only offered second semester… so I will be updating this probably tomorrow with the change in that.

I’m planning to self-study AP Psychology, AP Stats, and possibly AP CS AB next year. (No APs are offered at my school.)

Is this a good schedule? Does it stand out at all? I really feel I could easily handle more classes, but I don’t know how to convince my administration.
Although we don’t rank, I believe I have the highest GPA.

Am I on the right track for these schools? Will I burn-out? Will I be laughed at?

Bringing Up My Post (BUMP)

I think you’re on a pretty solid track!

Make sure you save some strength for Junior Year-don’t burn yourself out before you get to it.

It’s also the perfect time right now for you to begin studying for SATs (I can recommend you some books if you want)

You’re already pretty well off in music, sports, leadership, and community service (it’s good you don’t have the “laundry list” that is commonly seen, just make sure you keep looking for ways to make yourself stand out), so I think a solid SAT (really high 2200, preferably 2300) should get you a pretty good chance at top schools. One thing I would definitely recommend is to look for other ways to make you stand out - become a state/national officer, get a unique internship, etc.

Good luck!

Your schedule is FINE. Your course selection and the difficulty of them shows that you’re bright and very strong intellectual. Get good SAT’s / ACT’s to reinforce that.

Your EC’s aren’t that impressive yet to me, but you’re still a sophomore. You’re a lab-top repairer, science olympiad, an art club member, Involved with the mayor, Involved with the Church, and a cleric, golfer, and black belt, and a volunteer. That does show you’re unique / well-rounded… but I really can’t tell WHO you are from those activities, as you’re simply involved with those activities, none of them are that impressive. It seems like you’re just doing all of these things to impress the college. You’re actually involved in stuff, and you’re willing to do extra. That’s good. But what’ll be better is if you actually show WHO you are, and how passionate you are for something, and your uniqueness. However, if you can take EACH of your EC activities very far, then that’s amazing… However, very very few people manage that.

your sched is fine but your ECs and awards are not that impressive… i agree with the poster above. best of luck!!
