I’m currently a homeschool student from the United States who has been living in Beijing for the past seven years, and I wanted to find out what my chances would be for getting into University of Houston, Drexel, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
I haven’t taken the SATs yet, but I plan to in October. I’d say I’m looking at a score of around 1700, so nothing terrific. I’m also taking AP Chinese and AP Computer Science in May. Chinese I’ll have no problem getting a 5 on. However, I’m a little worried about computer science. I’m also planning on taking the SAT Math 1 subject test.
I’ve been playing violin classically for 15 years, and have been playing Irish fiddle for the past 10 or so years. I used to play here in Beijing with an international chamber orchestra. I speak Chinese fluently, and have been learning Arabic for the past three years. I also took a college level summer course in Arabic at Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2014.
I’ve volunteered at a camp for children with Selective Mutism (fear of talking), which is also something I myself overcame. The problem is, aside from those AP and SAT grades, I don’t really have much in the way of grades to show for what I’ve been doing over the past few years. Do I have ANY chance at getting into any of these schools? I want to study Hospitality Management/Hotel Management.
