Chances of getting in...

I know this may seem like a stupid question to ask, but I’m about to tour Cornell and I’d like to know what my chances are, straight-up, about getting into Cornell using Early Action. Here are my qualifications (and I know, not all of it is left to qualifications, but I’d like to know if they’re adequate, or need tuning up):

I wish to pursue a career in mathematics or theoretical physics.

I am a Junior in a private school. My class is small: about 130. I currently rank #1 in the class. My ACT composite score was 35 (36 science, 35 math, 35 english, 32 reading.) My SAT score was 2220 (760 math, 750 writing, 710 CR.) I received an 800 on both Math I and Math II Sat Subject tests, and plan to take Physics and Latin later in the year. My PSAT score was 219 (this should be enough to qualify for a National Merit SF, as my state’s cutoff is usually 213.) I have ranked 1st in a state-wide math competition for the past 2 years (TMTA contest, if you wish to check it out.) As for extra-curriculars: I was president of the Beta club, am part of the Latin club, Key club, Mu Alpha Theta and Honor Society. After school, I work tutoring kids in math as a job (8 hours/week). My main worry is that I don’t do any school sports, and this may make Cornell think that I’m lopsided, but I do enjoy running a few miles after school/work regularly.

Oh ya, and if you perceive that this is for me to brag (which it may seem that way, since it would be a lot of the info I put on a resume…), please don’t take it that way. I just want to know if those qualifications would give me a pretty good chance for Cornell using early decision, so I know whether or not to choose Cornell as the 1 college choose to risk that advantage on.

Thanks for any help you can give…

Yes you are qualified.

I could see an honest chance you are accepted. You don’t need school sports to get into Cornell.

You can definitely apply early and get accepted. You’re in a better position than a lot of folks currently are.

Early decision not early action, which means you HAVE to go if you’re accepted, though with a higher acceptance rate. Other colleges don’t necessarily give the same advantage for early, such as Stanford. If you really want to go to Cornell though, the early advantage would definitely make Cornell a match. Just be sure you won’t feel buyer’s remorse afterwards.

Ya. Sorry I used the wrong terminology, it was late last night :-. And ya, avoiding remorse is the reason I’m visiting it soon. If I like it more than the others, I’ll definitely use Cornell’s early decision.
