Hello, I’m a Junior in HS and I have a 4.33 cumulative academic weighted GPA and a 3.86 cumulative unweighted GPA. I could have gotten better if not for the fact that I’m really bad at Physics. I hope to major in Biology. I’m taking the most rigorous courses that I can. I am taking many honors classes, AP Environmental this year and I am taking AP Bio, AP Chem, and AP Psych next year. I don’t play any sports. My EC activities are Yearbook, Peer-Tutoring and some clubs. The only consistent regular(non-honors) class that I am taking is English and that is because I only moved here three years ago from India. The usage of English is pretty different when compared. So, do you think I have chances of getting into a selective school with a solid Biology program?

It depends how selective, schools like UCLA or Berkley will be a reach. the 3.84 unweighted and lack of sports could hurt your chances to some schools, but if you can play on some sort of sympathy card when writing your application essays or during interviews you may be able to overcome this. Unfortunately, this is seen by many as an unscrupulous way of getting into college and is often compared to whoring yourself out, but sometimes the ends justify the means.
